Meditation can reduce chronic pain.
In a recent study, meditation was shown as an effective way of reducing chronic pain. Brain imaging of individuals who engaged in just 20 minutes of instruction on meditation and mindfulness showed that key areas of the brain associated with pain showed a reduction in the pain that they felt. In another study published in The Journal of Neuroscience, meditation and mindfulness was linked with a 40% reduction in pain and 57% reduction in unpleasantness.
